About Rick

I'm Rick Wagner, a computational astrophysicist moonlighting as the manager of a high-performance computing group. My day (and sometimes night) job is ensuring that the XSEDE clusters at the San Diego Supercomputer Center are up and running, namely Trestles and Gordon. I also help out with the Triton Shared Computing Cluster, a condo cluster for researchers at the University of California, San Diego. Below are links to where I reappear in the social media graphs, my publications, and some of the things that I'm doing or have done.

And, for as long as I can get away with it, I'm trying to teach the next generations about parallel and distributed computing. Right now, I'm using Raspberry Pis and a tiled display wall. Together, they provide a very tangible experience for the students.
